Parkinson's Boxing Enquiry

Boxing Groups for People With Parkinson's

TVNZ Seven Sharp's Matt Chisholm interviews Lisa Gombinsky Roach about her Parkinson's Boxing group at Shane Cameron Fitness.

Transformations is excited to present New Zealand's first Parkinson's specific boxing classes. Lisa  combines nearly 20 years of Conductive Education and Parkinson's exercise expertise with non-contact boxing exercises and drills to offer a challenging supervised high intensity class for her boxers. The class focusses on agility, balance, coordination, size and speed of movement, strength, flexibilty, posture, functional mobility, and most importantly - FUN!

AUT film and media student Gavin Poole and his crew visit our boxing class at Shane Cameron Fitness in Northcote, Auckland, and talk to Graeme Roberts, boxer and Parkinson's NZ board member, about the benefits of boxing for people with Parkinson's and about his experience with Parkinson's and his advice for other people with the condition.

Our Auckland classes take place at  Shane Cameron Fitness  in Northcote on Auckland's North Shore, and at The Wreck Room in Eden Terrace, Auckland Central and we are looking at expanding to other locations in the very near future.  These classes are open to boxers of all abilities and will be adapted as necessary.  If you are interested in reading more about the benefits of boxing for people with Parkinson's please click on this link.  Contact Lisa for more information about our classes or to organise a free trial -- boxing gloves on, dukes up, and get ready to rumble!!
